Your speaker
What to Expect
- The advantages of local Generative AI for patent drafting
- Practice-oriented development of a workflow for the use of local AI models in the drafting process
- Automatic generation of patent descriptions with SLMs/LLMs based on patent claims
- Support and optimisation for the process of creating patent claims from invention disclosures using language models
- Use of generative AI for pre- and post-filing activities such as quality review, jurisdiction-specific adjustments, or prosecution
- Setting up a local Generative AI work environment
Who Should Attend
Do you work as a patent attorney or patent engineer and would like to use local Generative AI to make the drafting of patent applications more efficient? Then this is the right seminar for you. Basic knowledge of how Generative AI works is a prerequisite. Programming skills are not required.
Objective of the Event
This practical workshop teaches how Generative AI can be effectively used to optimise and accelerate the patent drafting process - while maintaining confidentiality of the data. Practical exercises will enable participants to use local language models (LM) for various aspects of patent drafting, such as the understanding and analysis of the invention, preparation of the inventor interview, state of the art search, the drafting and optimisation of the patent claims, the creation of the description or review and refinement...
Your Benefit
- Learn the practical application of local Generative AI for drafting relevant sections of a patent application
- Hands-on exercises and examples to immediately integrate Generative AI into your own patent drafting practice
Programme
09:00 - 17:00 CET
- How AI, an LLM (Large Language Model) works
- Tasks suitable for local language models/for cloud
- Confidentiality, efficiency and reliability
- Overview of use cases
- Hallucinations; improving theLLM results
- Implementation of the 'Human in the Loop' principle
- Experiments with local and cloud LMs
- Optional: Programming* of a neural network (*programming skills are not required)
- Overview of software tools

Workshop materials
The workshop materials consist of an ELearning on the basics of AI and LLM, additional videos with instructions, presentation slides as well as prompt templates and Jupyter notebooks (with instructions on how to use them and VBA code) that will allow attendees to run basic LLM code in their own environments (provided they have the compute resources). Regarding the specific case studies, the speaker will provide basic Jupyter notebooks that the participants can use as templates. The speaker will provide enough information so that a user with programming experience can also develop more complex individual solutions. For the exercises in the workshop, it is useful for participants to be able to use Colab (free with a Google account) and any chatbot such as ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft Copilot, ideally in a pro version. Participation with an additional monitor is also recommended......
Intensive learning
A feature of this online course is the restriction of the number of participants to 12, enabling a more intensive learning experience.
Software Requirements
While you will learn how to set up a local Generative AI work environment (you will receive YouTube video instructions for later implementation), the local environment is not required to participate in the workshop.
For the exercises in the workshop, it is useful for participants to be able to use Colab (free with a Google account) and any chatbot such as ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft Copilot, ideally in a pro version.
A small part of the practical implementation also deals with Office integration in Microsoft Word.
Course materials
The course materials consist of the presentation slides as well as code templates and jupyter notebooks (with instructions on how to use them) that will allow attendees to run basic LLM code in their own environments (provided they have the compute resources). Sebastian will also be demonstrating the specific case studies and be giving enough information away so that a user should be able to build a similar data flow or can supplement her or his own existing workflow.
