Who Should Attend
Do you work as a patent attorney, patent counsel or patent engineer and seek to integrate generative AI into your daily work?
Then this is the right course for you. Basic knowledge of how generative AI works is assumed. Programming knowledge is not required. Initial experience with prompting is helpful. Commercial IP GenAI tools will not be presented.
Objective of the Event
Generative AI (GenAI) now offers a wide range of applications for patent-related tasks.
During the course, participants will delve into the various use cases of generative AI in patent-related tasks. Key areas of focus will include how generative AI can enhance the efficiency and accuracy of patent searches, assist in the drafting of patent applications, and offer innovative solutions to complex technical queries in the patent field. The curriculum is structured to provide practical, hands-on experience, ensuring
that attendees gain not only theoretical knowledge but also the skills to apply generative AI directly in their patent work.
By the end of the course, attendees will be well-prepared to integrate generative AI into their workflow, leveraging its capabilities to stay at the forefront of technological advancement in the patent sector.
Your Benefit
- Attendees will leave with improved efficiency and precision in handling patent tasks, having learned to effectively utilize generative AI for searches, drafting, and analysis.
- They will gain practical experience in applying generative AI to real-world patent issues, equipping them with the ability to tackle complex challenges using AI.
- Participants will develop specialized skills in integrating generative AI into their patent practices, preparing them for the evolving landscape of AI in patent law.

A message from the speaker
Here is a video message from Sebastian Goebel, the speaker of the course. Sebastian shares some thoughts on generative AI and the upcoming course:
Workshop materials
The workshop materials consist of an Elearning on the basics of AI and LLM, additional videos with instructions, presentation slides as well as prompt templates and jupyter notebooks (with instructions on how to use them and VBA code) that will allow attendees to run basic LLM code in their own environments (provided they have the compute resources).
Regarding the specific case studies, the speaker will provide basic Jupyter notebooks that the participants can use as templates. The speaker will provide enough information
so that a user who can program can also develop more complex individual solutions.
For the exercises in the workshop, it is useful for participants to be able to use Colab (free with a Google account) and any chatbot such as ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft Copilot, ideally in a pro version.
Intensive learning
A feature of this online course is the restriction of the number of participants to 12, enabling a more intensive learning experience.
